Ecobliss is the inventor of the environmentally friendly cold seal packaging technology and the patented child-resistant and certified solution Locked4Kids. The company has created separate divisions for pharmaceutical packaging and retail packaging. For pharmaceutical wallet packaging around the blister strips and the Locked4Kids packaging, Ecobliss works together with De Budelse and KDS Stansvormen from Weert.
According to commercial director and co-owner Marijn van Utteren, Ecobliss emerged from a small in-house printing company. After inventing the technology for environmentally friendly, cold seal packaging, the company from Echt in Limburg has grown strongly. 'To meet the increasing demand for pharmaceutical packaging, we were looking for expansion in the supply chain', Marijn van Utteren begins. 'We came into contact with De Budelse through our supplier KDS Stansvormen. Both companies have already worked together satisfactorily.’
The majority of Ecobliss customers opt for the sustainable, convenient blister strips. ‘The blister strips are wrapped in cardboard packaging’, Marijn van Utteren continues his story. ‘These packages are important for two reasons. First of all, they protect the blister strips and secondly, they contain additional information about the medication. We engage De Budelse to print these packaging.’
Ecobliss has also developed unique, child-resistant packaging with Locked4Kids. Young children are unable to unlock this packaging, but adults can easily do so. This solution is of course ideal if the medication poses a risk to children when taken. ‘The Locked4Kids boxes contain a plastic tray that holds the blister strips’, Marijn van Utteren explains. ‘As a user, you have to pull this tray out like a drawer. For this purpose, the box contains two pressure points, which must be pressed simultaneously. Children do not understand how this opening works.’
Ecobliss successfully carries out the packaging processes of a large number of customers. These companies vary in size from small to large pharmaceutical companies worldwide. In addition, Ecobliss is GMP certified for packaging medicines. The company makes unique products with both cold seal and Locked4Kids. ‘We are a valuable supplier for many pharmaceutical companies’, concludes Marijn van Utteren. ‘We do not only supply the materials and the necessary packaging machines. We also offer customers the opportunity to carry out the packaging activities for them. The materials that De Budelse prints literally go all over the world.’
Marijn van Utteren is very pleased with the cooperation with De Budelse, which has become increasingly close since the first contact in 2019. ‘Ecobliss and De Budelse are medium-sized companies, both of which attach great importance to quality. That is why we selected De Budelse. Furthermore, it is very pleasant to have a supplier and sparring partner so close by. That works very well for the coordination. And not unimportant: just like Ecobliss, De Budelse has a mentality of ‘putting their shoulders to the wheel and doing what needs to be done’. That also creates a mutual bond.’
